What is HoloVision? or “Holo”?
HoloVision? is a patented new interactive merchandising and communications display system that enables the viewer to see 3-Dimensional images or messages “floating in space” without the need for special glasses.
What is the 3D technology called?
The correct technical description of HoloVision? is an aerial image display.
How does it work?
HoloVision? is a complex but integrated array of technologies that includes a proprietary and geometrically precise optical system, a proprietary software system called “HoloSoft?”, with both linked to a proprietary digital display (PDD). HoloVision uses natural light to create its aerial images.
Can HoloVisionTM be networked?
Yes, with the proper infrastructure, the units can be networked within a store, a mall, or across the country.
What size aerial objects can be projected and are there size limitations?
We normally can project images up to 18 inches in size, such as the size of a real human head.  The technology is scalable so we can go larger and smaller in size depending on the nature of the project.
Does HoloVision require special software?
Yes, HoloVisionTM runs on a proprietary software package called HoloSoftTM that is supplied by Provision.  This software formats the content to properly interface with the system to produce a distinguishable, high quality aerial image.
What are the current models of the HoloVision displays?
HoloVision displays come in three basic sizes, as measured by the approximate screen size: 17 inch, 29 inch, and 40 inch diagonal screens.  The model numbers are represented by HL17, HL29, and HL40.
How long is a typical HoloVisionTM “commercial” or message?
The typical length is between 10 and 30 seconds long.
Can’t I just scan a picture into a JPEG format and use it in HoloVisionTM?
No, the resulting product will not be in 3D and will not be of optimal quality.  However, if you give us your picture or file we can build it into a HoloVisionTM 3D image.
Can I project a human face or people on HoloVisionTM?
Yes, providing the content is formatted properly.
What is needed from the customer if they wish to begin the production process?
The customer should write a narrative description of what they want, or optimally, provide a storyboard of the content required.  If the customer has an AVI file, it can be used as input into the production process.
What is the production of 3D content/advertisements procedure?
It is a three-step process: a) build objects in 3D, b) animate objects, c) add special effects.  This process is similar to all other computer-generated imagery produced for movies in “Hollywood”. Content previously shot in 2D, such as a pre-existing commercial, can be incorporated and interwoven with digital 3D animation
Can I stream live broadcast material across HoloVisionTM?
Yes, it will be viewed from the face of a 3D object floating in space, simulating the 3D effect..
What kind of source material do you need to produce 3D HoloVisionTM content?
We can use any object that was designed with 3D software like Maya, 3D Studio Max, or LightWave.  Also, we can use any 2D source material, like a JPEG picture, as part of the storyboard.  We can also use our 3D camera studio, which allows us to take a digital image of your product and create a true 3D image that can be converted and used in HoloVision? content.
Can you convert a regular TV commercial to run on HoloVisionTM?
Yes, though you cannot “convert” a TV commercial into 3D, a method has been developed whereby 2D content can be displayed on an object floating in space, which creates a stunning 3D effect.
How long does it take to produce content for HoloVisionTM?
From several days to 3 weeks; depending on the “factors” outlined above (complexity, animation, length, etc.) as well as production backlog.  A pre-generated storyboard will greatly aid communications and speed the production process.  Again, this is in lieu of a customer already having 3D content produced or simply wishing to run their 2D content on a 3D object.
Is the 3D production process expensive? How is it priced?
Most commercial 3D animation production companies base price on many factors including level of resolution required, complexity in terms of intricacy of animation, special effects, sound track, and overall length. Typical production pricing can range between $600 for a simple logo to $3,500 for a lengthy piece with numerous special effects. Content can only be priced following a complete review of the storyboard by Provision’s production department.
How is content produced for the HoloVisionTM system?
First, we define “content” as the actual visual images that can be seen on HoloVisionTM.  Content can be developed as advertisements, public information, training or promotional materials, and as single images that can change at determined timed intervals or as streaming content, similar to a television commercial.   To display the 3D effect, content should be created as a digital animation; however, Provision does have the capability of broadcasting traditional 2D content on a 3D object floating in space.  In this case, the 2D content from major advertisers can be utilized on HoloVisionTM to produce a stunning 3D effect.  HoloVisionTM simply needs to format the 2D content as part of this process.  Provision does not need to produce the 3D content to broadcast on HoloVision displays, but does need to provide a quality formatting procedure to insure optimization of the best aerial image.
Why is HoloVisionTM so special?
It catches and leaves an impression on consumer eyes and minds more than any other communication medium in existence today.  HoloVisionTM has unprecedented clarity and resolution, with enough microscopic detail to work in training applications. Consumers today are bombarded with thousands of advertising messages.  HoloVisionTM allows a retailer to breakthrough the competitive clutter in a memorable and compelling way.
Does HoloVisionTM require any special service needs?
No, service is minimal; minor cleaning is all that is generally required.
Does HoloVisionTM have a warranty program?
Yes, HoloVisionTM has a 1-year limited warranty.
Where are HoloVisionTM units installed?
HoloVisionTM systems have been installed in North America, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
How much does a HoloVisionTM system cost?
The pricing structure for HoloVision? is dependent on the size of the units ordered, quantity of units ordered and any special features and options ordered based on a specific marketing application.  Purchasing programs, rental programs, and joint ventures are options applicable to customer specific requirements.  Each customer is entitled to a personalized quotation for his or her application.
How can HoloVisionTM fit into my environment?
HoloVision? units can be freestanding floor displays, mounted in/on or behind a wall, hung from the ceiling, developed as in-store merchandisers or informational kiosks. Currently all HoloVision installations are within internal environments.  External environments would require protection from weather, based upon the location.
Can HoloVisionTM be interactive?
Yes; the aerial images from HoloVision? are so real you are compelled to reach out and verify whether the images are real or not.  With our “Air Touch™” technology, the customer can touch and manipulate  the aerial  images  to perform any number of functions (print materials, change screens, produce a scent).  Other interactive technologies, such as optical and voice recognition, in addition to wireless mouse technology, allow customers to truly interact with the aerial image.  Customers can manipulate or rotate the object in space, change the objects color, initiate an informational loop that demonstrates product attributes, or highlights price or in-stock information.  The hand becomes a mouse and can command the PC driven images in a variety of ways.
Is HoloVisionTM utilizing holographic technology?
No, since true Holographic technology uses lasers, and HoloVision? does not.  HoloVision uses light emitted from a proprietary display device.
Is anybody else doing this, and what other technologies are out there?
There have been a few companies using alternative technologies of inferior quality, which is why Provision is the market leader.  Traditional holographic laser technology is out there but is extremely expensive and has inherent safety issues.
How much electrical power does HoloVision consume?
The same as a normal TV set or a home P.C, it runs off 110V or 220V using an international multi-voltage power supply.
Is HoloVision? easy to transport and install?
Yes, units can be moved easily and simply plug into the nearest electrical outlet.
Is there audio with the HoloVision TM display?
Yes, audio can very easily be added to the HoloVision digital files with speakers.
Does the HoloVision? system have any adverse impact on the eyes?
No.  People adjust their viewing distance to the image quickly based on their maximum comfort zone.
Is HoloVision? a PC based system?
Yes.  As such the displays can be networked with content downloaded from remote locations.
What is the evolution of this technology?
The HoloVisionTM system will evolve into smaller sized units with less weight, while performance is improved through larger viewing angles.
Can you project an image out to anywhere in the room?
No! You can only project the image out in front of the unit 4 feet (1.25 meters) with a current maximum viewing angle of 60 degrees.
Can the image being projected also be magnified?
Yes, images can be magnified up to 1.3X
How far can the aerial image be projected from the unit?
While the distance is dependent on the model ordered, typical projections range up to 4 feet (1.25 meters).
Can HoloVision displays be ceiling mounted?
Yes, we have engineered HoloVision units so they can be mounted to the ceiling.
What are the viewing angles?
HoloVisionTM has viewing angles of up to 60 degrees.  The viewing angle refers to the lateral field of view projected from the center of the unit. The audience angle increases as the distance from the unit increases.
Can the HoloVision displays be placed or hidden out of the view from the audience?
Yes, the equipment can be built into a wall, or covered with a façade suitable to the environment.  For example, as seen on our website, Holovision can be integrated into a kiosk or merchandiser.  On our website, you will see the basic chassis of a HoloVision display.
What are the physical sizes of the HoloVisionTM displays?
Exact dimensions of units are available on the product spec sheets which can be viewed at our website at www.provision.tv.
What are the differences between the HoloVision models “C”, “T”, and “D”?
There are three types of descriptors of the HoloVision displays.  “C” is for Classic.  T is for Topless, and D is for Diamond.  The Classic model is manufactured with the front display glass assembled in a vertical position.  The Topless model is manufactured with the front display glass assembled in a tilted position.  The Diamond model is a designation for a smaller-sized HoloVision display that only comes with the front display glass assembled in a tilted position.  All of the 3D holographic images and their respective viewing angles are the same for all respective models.  Please contact your Provision sales representative to determine which model is best for your specific application.
